Engaging the Next Generation of North Dakota Leaders

Teenager Portrait

The NDGOP State Convention is a great opportunity to expose young people to grassroots democracy. Youth who attend the NDGOP State Convention as pages will have a front row seat to see how candidates are nominated for office and how the Republican Party sets rules and adopts resolutions. They will also have an opportunity to network with other youth and delegates from all over the state. These connections can be very important for shaping the future and motivating the continued growth of the Republican Party in North Dakota.

Page Duties

Pages help ensure the smooth operation of the convention. Their primary duty is to assist their district chairperson, the delegates, and the convention staff in whatever is most needed to keep the convention running smoothly and efficiently.

Pages often act as messengers and runners while the convention is in session so that delegates can focus on the issues at hand. Pages may also assist with ballot collection, distribution of materials, making concessions runs, and any other errands that may arise during the course of the convention business.

  • Pages must be at least 14 years of age by the first day of the convention.

  • Pages who will be on the floor must have access to a smartphone for the entirety of the convention with the ability to download the “telegram” app. This app will be used during the convention to quickly receive and disseminate information and facilitate the effective and efficient performance of their duties.

  • One page will be assigned to each district. There is no guarantee that a page will be assigned to his or her home district. Pages will be assigned where they are most needed.

  • If more pages register than there are districts, some pages may be seated together in the general and alternate seating.

  • All pages who register will be able to participate in the Friday night social.

  • The registration cost for pages is $30. This helps to cover the cost of lunch on Saturday and any administrative costs through out the convention.
