What Do Delegates Do?

There are many ways to get involved in North Dakota politics and help direct the future of our great state and our country. One of the most exciting is to represent your district at the State Convention.

At the 2026 NDGOP Republican Convention delegates will have a few duties:

  • Endorse candidates for statewide offices

  • To conduct other business coming before the convention

This year's agenda includes endorsing candidates for Congressman/woman and Public Service Commissioner. In addition, other business is planned, such as approval of the resolutions and adoption of party rules.

Delegate Qualifications

Delegates and alternates are elected by their District at a meeting called for that purpose by the District Chair. Delegates and alternates to the State Convention must:

  • have affiliated with the Republican Party in the last general election or intend to vote or affiliate with the Republican Party in the next general  election

  • be an American citizen  of voting age (18) by the time the convention is called to order

  • have been a resident of the District for the 30 days immediately preceding the District Convention

  • have paid state party dues online or postmarked by mail to party headquarters at least 10 days prior to the start of the State Convention

  • Paid district dues if applicable
